One thing we learned from our recent survey is that our members are interested in doing offsite events, so we have planned a super fun event!

 

 

Guided Mindfulness Walk

 

Sunday, October 2nd, 3pm-4:30pm, we will host a Guided Mindfulness Walk at the Bassett Trace Nature Trail in Colonial Williamsburg.


This unique event will provide you with an opportunity to experience the beauty of nature, a heightened awareness of your senses and practice mindful meditation.


We will start with a beautiful trail walk led by Tricia York, a Yoga Instructor and Integrative Health and Wellness Coach with an emphasis in Mindfulness Studies.

 
 

After the walk, we will share our experiences and enjoy a rock painting activity to create a keepsake to take with you. You will also receive one pass for a free class at Body Balance which you can use for yourself or give to a friend.

New Yoga Therapy Class

 

Therapeutic Yoga Flow is an exciting new weekly class which starts on Tuesday, October 11th at 5:30pm!  With the start of this new class, our 6pm Warm Slow Flow class will move to a new timeslot at 7pm.


Therapeutic Yoga Flow is a gentle class which includes yoga poses modified to individual’s needs. It features gentle movement sequences to help improve the body’s movement patterns, yogic breath techniques, and guided relaxation. With a strong focus on function and alignment, this class is structured to address systems of the body that may need balancing for better health and well-being.


This class is appropriate for individuals with musculoskeletal issues, neuromuscular issues, chronic pain, anxiety or depression, respiratory issues, or other imbalances or dysfunctions that individuals may suffer or anyone else who is interested in a therapeutic yoga experience. 


This class will be led by Shaye Molendyke who has extensive experience in yoga therapy, teaching and training. Her background includes military service and many impressive achievements! 

 
 

 
 
 

New Workshop Series to Get Your Yoga On!

Starting October 20th, Amanda Jackson RYT-200 will be leading an exciting new series called “Work-In Yoga: Jumpstarting Your Practice”!


With eight semi-private classes and one private lesson, this is a great opportunity to reignite your passion for yoga and get back to your roots! Whether you are new to yoga or have been away from your practice for a while, your practice will benefit by getting back to basics and building your practice from the ground up.


The 60-minute semi-private classes will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings as follows:

* First meeting is Thursday October 20

* Week One: Tuesday October 25 & Thursday October 27

* Week Two: Tuesday November 1 & Thursday November 3

* Week Three: Tuesday November 8 & November 10

* Week Four: Private Lesson & Tuesday November 15

(all classes times are 7:15pm - 8:15pm)


Your 60-minute private lesson can be scheduled any time after the first week, make ups will be Monday/Wednesday 10am or Saturday 8am.


In this small group setting, you will receive personalize instruction to help build a practice that works for your body, understand what modifications you need and how to best use props. There will be open communications throughout the class and questions are encouraged!

Tis the Season

 

No not that season, it's Hot Yoga season! 


As it gets colder outside, our hot yoga classes start sounding  even better!


So if you haven’t done hot yoga before, come give it a try! You may find out that many of the ideas you had about hot yoga are not true (we encourage you to drink water throughout the class and to take it easy for your first few classes to get used to the heat)!


If you've done hot yoga somewhere else but not at Body Balance, you need to try on of our hot classes! Every studio has a different heating system and a different vibe so your the experience will be different!


With more than 30 classes per week, we offer a wide variety of heated (hot and warm) and non-heated classes.  Check out our class schedule and class descriptions for details.

 
 

 
 
 

 Studio Team Update & Welcome Back!

 

We have an amazing team!  If you’ve been to the studio lately, you probably have noticed that we have quite a few new faces!


In addition to new instructors, we have added a staff of Ambassadors to help with class check-in, keeping things straight at the studio, and keeping up with the laundry (just saying, we go through a lot of towels)!


And we are super excited to have a couple of our favorite instructors back in the studio!  


Kaitlyn Romei, E-RYT 200, RYT 300 is returning to Body Balance after being gone since last October!  Many of you will remember Kaitlyn from teaching a variety of classes including Gentle Flow, Gentle Restorative and Vinyasa Flow. She is back on the schedule teaching Vinyasa Multi-Level Flow classes on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 8:00 am.


Tiffany Reaves, RYT-200 is back from teaching yoga in Morocco and we are thrilled she has returned to join us this fall! Tiffany is a high-energy instructor with a passion for collaborative classes that are as fun and uplifting. She’s teaches a wide variety of barre and yoga classes so look for her to be on our schedule for some your favorite classes.
