Mental Health Matters

Prioritize your Mental Health - YOU Matter!

Friends, want to make shifts that could enhance your life?

Randy, our Relationship Counsellor, would suggest if you answered "yes" ...and let's face it - that's most of us!...

Take a look at your relationships.

Think of the relationships in your life as having levels of depth.

Like this triangle above.

Decide what level of depth is appropriate for the people in your life.

Think of your relationships within these concentric triangles of depth.

The outer triangles are more your acquaintance-type of relationships.

Work your way inward to family and friends and to where the innermost triangle is that relationship that you have with yourself

And THIS relationship should be the most honest, the most accepting, and the most empathetic of all.

And just maybe - not everyone has earned the right to be in those

inner triangles -

anyone come to mind?!

Building self-trust with our own "self" is pivotal to this process.

Reflect on these questions...

Where are you most struggling today - which relationships do you say "yes" to when really you'd like to say "no" or "not right now".

Do you have strong NO's but then somehow find yourself getting talked into  "the thing"?

How do you hold yourself accountable for your goals AND also offer yourself self-compassion?

What does your inner voice sound like on a typical day?

How does your inner critic (who might be one of those inner voices)

show up?

How do you stand up to that inner critic?

Is there any other way than adversarial to stand up to it?

Why not have a "Check in" with Randy?

Sophie, MSW Social Worker, supports our Teens and Young Adults around the pivotal changes that happen during these transition years, changes like:

  • navigating friendship circles
  • first relationships
  • big emotions and overwhelm
  • problems with parents
  • sorting out who ARE you? What do I believe in?
  • standing up for yourself

Did you know??

Sophie is also our Brainspotting Guru (Level 2) for ALL AGES.

Who is Brainspotting for? It can be helpful for people who:

  • are struggling with big emotions that seem to take over
  • have experienced trauma
  • already see a talk therapist and where this collaborative body-based therapy may help the work you're already doing

How does Brainspotting work?

You eyes are directly connected to different areas of your brain.

In a session, we identify a "brainspot". A brainspot is a specific eye position that connects to an unresolved experience. By focusing on that spot while also noticing what comes up, your brain begins to process what's been "stuck" beneath the surface.

One of the powerful aspects of Brainspotting is that you don't have to relive every details of a painful experience for healing to happen. Your brain will do the work at its own pace, helping you move forward in a way that feels natural and safe. Here's a two-minute video to find out more!

**Our services are covered by most benefit plans**

And finally - here's a quick body exercise that can be a simple exercise for us to add into our daily lives.

Share this with your partner, your children - it can be helpful for anyone to build in a P A U S E before we respond...

Because otherwise - that is when we can react and Sh!t hits the fan!
